Welcome to The Hickory Shaft. We hope you will enjoy your dining experience as well as the historical look back. The early days of golf in St. Andrews, Scotland clubs had hickory shafts and the golf balls were made of leather and stuffed with feathers.

The collection of golf memorabilia has been assembled over 20+ years of travel and also through friends in St. Andrews. Many pictures capture champion golfers from the early days of the game, up to Bobby Jones, near the end of the Hickory Shaft era. Take a few minutes and reminisce. Imagine Old Tom Morris making these clubs and balls then going out and competing in the early Open Championships at Prestwick (home of the first thirteen Open Championships). As you will notice, there are many Hickory Shaft clubs throughout the bistro. Some are one-of-a-kind, with historical significance.
