Dave and I attended the Labor Day Fest last evening and enjoyed it so much. I wanted to tell you that the highlight of the evening was to see you dance with your wife. It made me feel so good. We love life here and I just want to hug you every time I see you because you are Brunswick Plantation to me.

I am a native Virginian and Dave a Hoosier-says he always thought he would have to drag me kicking and screaming out of Virginia. We started looking at property for retirement about 10 years ago. We went to Aiken SC, Wallace NC, New Bern NC, St. James, and others and came here for a weekend and bought our lot in Edenton the first day. Brunswick was so friendly and we fell in love. That was in 2004; we began building in 2006 and were able to retire and move in February 2008. Todd (Helf-Shelter Division) builds a wonderful home. We are so happy here-playing golf-Shawn (Hicken-Golf Pro) is a great teacher-playing mah jong, reading.

Dear Rob:

Golf course architects William Byrd and Clyde Johnston have designed 27 holes of challenging golf. Their imagination weaves through the community providing enjoyable activity for whoever decides to play such a wonderful layout. However, the design was only the beginning. The daily care and maintenance of the golf course is of paramount importance since these aspects determine the true quality on a day to day basis. You and your maintenance crews have done an exemplary job of keeping this golf course in outstanding condition. As we members play our weekly golf schedules it is very apparent that hard work and dedicated planning of maintenance issues play significant roles in the continued upkeep.

The decision in 2006 to use Championship Bermuda grass as the surface for all 27 greens has made a major impact on the supreme quality of the putting surfaces. The mature greens add so much to the consistency of the surfaces when putting. As a golfer, one can only rely on the management of the greens to give confidence when standing over any length of putt. Your care and effort of the golf course have not gone unnoticed by those of us who lay here regularly.

The fairways are also in magnificent condition. Daily maintenance combined with long term planning has resulted in an extremely playable course. As with any type of living environment, Mother Nature plays an important role in what happens. Your ability to balance your maintenance schedule with what Mother Nature has planned shows in the overall condition of the golf course. As we all know, She can cause havoc on a golf course. I think your balance and knowledge of appropriate scheduling has held these interruptions to a minimum.

In conclusion, Rob, I thank you and your staff for providing the members of Brunswick Plantation and the guests who choose to play here a top quality golf course. Having played at many of the golf courses in this area and beyond, it is always nice to return to Brunswick because I know I am coming home to a well maintained, very playable course.
